Zena C. Gyasi
Zena C. Gyasi is the sister of Executive Director, Bernice Bronson. Zena was born April 10, 1985 to the parents of Yaw and Rebecca Gyasi. We affectionately called her Z and 'Zena Wena'. Zena is the youngest of four sisters, Lila, Bernice, and Ellen. Z and her family grew up in Arlington, Texas.
Zena excelled in school. Her teachers from kindergarten to high school always expressed their appreciation for having her in their class. The last school that Z attended was Cheshire Academy in Connecticut where she completed her freshman and sophomore years. She was a role model for many. She loved to read; in fact, she read everything that she could. She was an athlete of immense talent; she was very good at basketball, volleyball, and tennis. She led Cheshire Academy to their first winning basketball season!
Zena died at the age of 17 from lupus and its complications. Her memory and sweet spirit lives on through Zena's House and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. We will always remember, miss, and love our dear sweet Zena!
